Doug Davis
The next meeting of the Stennis-Capitol Press Forum will be held Sept. 9, 2013, and feature recently appointed Mississippi Parole Board Chairman Doug Davis.
The forum will be held from noon to 1 p.m. at The Capital Club, which is located on the 19th floor at 125 South Congress Street in downtown Jackson. Cost to attend the event is $20. Please make checks payable to the Stennis Institute.
The event is open to the public, but registration by noon Friday [Sept. 6] is required. To register, send an email to phil.hardwick@msstate.edu indicating your attendance.
Davis recently served as assistant vice president of First Security Bank, and he represented District 1 for two terms in the Mississippi Senate. While serving in the Legislature, Davis chaired both the Appropriations Committee and the Universities and Colleges Committee. He was also recognized as Legislator of the Year by the Mississippi Troopers Association and the Mississippi Police Chiefs Association.
Davis also serves on the DeSoto County Economic Council and Palmer Home for Children.
He holds a bachelorâs degree from Mississippi College and is a member of Longview Point Baptist Church.
