This summer the short science-fiction film "Headrush" made its premiere in Tupelo, and the Starkville premiere will be at Hollywood Premiere Cinemas on Aug. 22. Many MSU alumni and current MSU students were involved with the film, and they are listed here.
--Johnson Thomasson, a 2010 alumnus with a bachelor of science degree in computer science and a minor in communication, is the writer, director and producer editor. He also has been admitted to University of Southern California's School of Cinematic Arts where he will pursue a master of fine arts degree in film and television production.
--Jerel Levanway, a 1996 alumnus with a bachelor of science degree in biological sciences, is the production designer.
--Cameron Spann, a 2010 alumnus with a bachelor of arts degree in communication-broadcasting, is the lead actor. He was also featured in James Franco's "As I Lay Dying," which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and is based on William Faulkner's classic novel.
--Maggie Spann-Rockett, a 2008 alumna with a bachelor of arts in communication-theatre, is an actress in the film.
--Zach Prichard, a 2002 alumnus with a bachelor of fine arts degree in graphic design and a master of fine arts in electronic visualization, worked in these areas on the project.
--Casey Heflin, a 2008 alumnus with a bachelor of arts degree in communication-theatre, is the hair and makeup artist. She continues to work on various independent and feature films (The Green Lantern) in the South.
--Chase Neal, a 2011 alumnus with a bachelor of arts in interdisciplinary studies-eduational psychology and communication, is the props master.
--Phillip Thompson, a current student pursuing a bachelor of arts degree in music, is the musical composer.
--Coy Sellers, a 2010 alumnus with a bachelor of arts degree in communication-broadcasting, is the digital technician.
--Jonathan Peterson, a current student with an economics major and communication minor, is the production assistant.
