Stacey Pickering

Stacey Pickering, state auditor for Mississippi, will be the featured speaker at a July 1 luncheon sponsored by Mississippi State University's Stennis Institute of Government and Community Development and the Capitol press corps.

Elected as Mississippi’s 41st State Auditor in 2007, Pickering was re-elected as State Auditor in 2011, receiving over 75 percent of the vote in the November general election.

Since 2008, Pickering has recovered more than $8 million in embezzled, misappropriated and misspent taxpayer money on behalf of Mississippians.

In June 2012, Pickering was honored with the National State Auditor's Association's "National Excellence in Accountability Award" for his work on ARRA accountability and oversight.

The event is open to the public, and will be held at The Capital Club, 125 South Congress Street, 19th Floor in downtown Jackson. Cost to attend is $20. Please make checks payable to the Stennis Institute.

Pre-registration is required by noon on June 28. To register, send an e-mail to the Stennis Institute's Phil Hardwick at phil.hardwick@msstate.edu or visit http://stenniscapitolpress.wordpress.com for additional information.
