MSU Student Association recognizes four for outstanding service

STARKVILLE, Miss.--Two Mississippi State students and two campus employees are 2013 honorees of the university's Student Association.

The recognitions by were presented at the student government organization's recent year-end banquet. The honorees include:

--Bill Broyles, assistant vice president for student affairs, receiving the Friend of the Student Association Award for his continuing efforts to help guide student government leaders in financial and budgetary matters, among other key areas.

--David Garraway, MSU TV Center/University Relations Office video program manager, receiving the Donna M. Maykowski Friend of the Student Award for achievements in documenting and broadcasting SA-organized events and programs via campus and other media.

--Senior Courtney E. Harris, a communication/public relations major from Louisville, Ky., receiving the Hank Flick Senator of the Year Award in recognition for her long service and key leadership roles in SA Senate, the student body's elected assembly.

--Senior Sara H. Vance, a political science/pre-law major from St. Johns, Fla., receiving the Jean Miller Cabinet Member of the Year Award for her leadership of Bulldog Bash, the major fall semester festival, and other major projects.

The Maykowski and Miller awards honor two fulltime staff members and their longtime work with student government operations; the Flick Award is a tribute to the veteran communication professor who has served for many years as senate parliamentarian.
