STARKVILLE, Miss.--Traveling the world can be expensive, but a free spring cultural event at Mississippi State offers a taste of international cultures.
The university's 23rd International Fiesta takes place 11 a.m.-3 p.m. April 6 on the Drill Field. In case of rain, the Saturday activities will relocate to the Sanderson Center's auxiliary gymnasium.
Event highlights include displays from a wide variety of nations, along with culturally authentic food and games.
"The International Fiesta is a wonderful opportunity for students and families to submerse themselves in different cultures while having a great time," said Joan Mylroie, a MSU geosciences department instructor.
The 30 different groups participating represent cultures spanning the globe, including Colombia, Peru, Nigeria, Cameroon, Japan and Germany, to name a few.
Entertainment will include dances, musical instrumentals, singing and poetry readings.
The event is sponsored by the MSU Holmes Cultural Diversity Center.
