In a special Sunday [Feb. 24] university concert, bands from Mississippi State and the community will perform a range of musical selections.
To begin at 3 p.m. in McComas Hall, the free program features the MSU Campus Band, the Starkville/MSU Community Band and the Symphonic Band.
Cliff Taylor and Craig Aarhus, associate and assistant directors of MSU Bands, respectively, will conduct.
The Starkville/MSU Community Band will perform pieces including James Curnow's "Fanfare and Flourishes" and "Sheltering Sky" by John Mackey.
They also will perform Edwin Franko Goldman's "On the Mall," written in 1923 for the dedication of the new bandstand in New York City's Central Park.
The Campus Band will play works by David Holsinger and Thoinot Arbeau.
The Symphonic Band will play such works as "Festival" by Clifton Williams, "Ere the World Began to Be" by Jack Stamp and "Canarios Fantasia" by Douglas Akey.
