STARKVILLE, Miss.--Residents of Alcorn, Copiah and Oktibbeha counties are new officers of the Mississippi State University Alumni Association's student organization.
The Alumni Delegates serve as liaisons between the 134-year-old land-grant institution and its nearly 124,000 living graduates. Founded in 1980, the organization currently has 44 members.
Taking office in January, the new leaders will include:
--President Vijay Kannuthurai of Hazlehurst. He is a junior biochemistry major and the son of Thiruvarasu and Chandra Kannuthurai.
--Samuel B. Bragg of Rienzi, vice president for education. He is a junior civil engineering major and the son of Kevin and Jamey Bragg.
--Casey E. McGee of Starkville, vice president for public relations. She is a sophomore communication/public relations major and the daughter of David and Kristie McGee.
--Secretary Mary Lowry Nemeth, also of Starkville. She is a junior kinesiology/clinical exercise physiology major and the daughter of Mike and Renee Nemeth.
Helping enhance appreciation for the association's international mission and involving members in various leadership and service activities are among the group's major responsibilities. Throughout the school year, members often are the first points of contact for such campus events as the association's football tailgate parties, annual awards banquet and leadership conference, class reunions, and other events alumni leads.
"We are very excited to have such a talented group of student leaders for 2013," said Jimmy Abraham, associate vice president for development and alumni and executive director of the MSU Alumni Association.
"The Alumni Delegates have served as an integral part of our association for 32 years, and we are grateful for their service and dedication to our university and our alumni worldwide," he added.
