Love MSU cheese? Tweet us #SayCheeseState

Who’s on the ball with their Christmas shopping this year? Those who purchased their Mississippi State Edam cheese early, of course!

The prized cheese that is a year-round favorite and a holiday tradition has been sold out since mid-November, but the Mississippi Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station Sales Store remains open throughout this week to allow customers to pick up their orders. While all varieties of cheese are sold out, other MAFES products are still available, including jams, jellies, meats, and other dairy products.

In 2013, MAFES will celebrate 75 years of making the Edam balls, which are a recognized symbol of MSU’s heritage. The university sells about 44,000 balls of Edam cheese each year, in addition to other tasty varieties such as vallagret, cheddar and jalapeno pepper.

Didn’t get yours in time for Christmas? The MAFES Sales Store will begin taking new orders in January. Visit www.msucheese.com.

For those who did purchase one of the coveted red balls, tell us how you are enjoying it this season; or, better yet, attach a photo. Tweet us @msstate using hashtag #SayCheeseState.
