MSU Martin Center welcomes all to Friday 'Fun Run'

Contact: Sammy McDavid

Members of the Golden Triangle community are invited Friday [Oct. 26] to take part in Mississippi State's T.K. Martin Center Fun Run.

Registration opens at 4:45 p.m. at the center, which is located adjacent to the university's Longest Student Health Center at the intersection of Hardy and Morrill roads.

Sponsored by Cadence Bank, the challenge invites participants to "run it, walk it, roll it, stroll it, skate it, or even dance it." If once around the one-mile course isn't enough, those physically able are invited to repeat the loop.

Organized by the Martin Center staff and student members of the Day One service program, the fund-raising event will benefit Project IMPACT, an early intervention program for pre-school children with special needs.

"Early bird" admission tickets are $12 for individuals; $30 for a family of three or more. On Friday, the amounts increase to $15 and $35, respectively. To register, visit https://www.tkmartin.msstate.edu/funrun/register/.

Also, $10 raffle tickets will be available for sale.

The T.K. Martin Center is a memorial to MSU's late vice president who led in making the campus more accessible to those with physical challenges.

The facility was established to provide comprehensive, multi-disciplinary evaluations to remove limitations through the application of assistive technology, allowing individuals to participate in educational, vocational and leisure activities to the fullest degree they choose.
