STARKVILLE, Miss.--Mississippi Public Broadcasting will air highlights of the Charles Templeton Ragtime Jazz Festival this Friday [April 13], beginning at 9 p.m.
The annual festival, which celebrated its sixth anniversary last month, features high-energy, dynamic performances by internationally known ragtime jazz pianists in campus concerts.
Musicians Frederick Hodges, Sonny Leyland, Adam Swanson, and Terry Waldo will be featured on stage and in interviews from the 2010 festival, along with ragtime historian David Jasen. Their biographies may be read at http://library.msstate.edu/ragtime/festival/festival10/index.html.
The broadcast, which was produced by MSU's Television Center, is being co-sponsored by the MSU Libraries and Mitchell Memorial Library-based Charles Templeton Sr. Music Museum; Starkville Area Arts Council; Starkville Rotary Club; Greater Starkville Development Partnership; and, in part, by grants from the Mississippi Arts Council and National Endowment for the Arts.
