From Alaska to Florida and everywhere in between, landscape architects across the country will hold simultaneous events on Thursday [April 26] to educate the public about their role in the environment around them. MSU will host an awareness event from noon to 1 p.m., when students and professionals will discuss the scope and impact of landscape architecture on the daily life of the public and public spaces through environmental design. The event will take place at Old Main Pedestrian Plaza, between the Colvard Student Union and Perry Cafeteria.
Starkville area landscape architects and students will approach other students and faculty to promote the MSU program and discipline. The local architects and students will give first-hand accounts of how landscape architecture impacts the community.
Landscape architects have designed iconic places like New York City's Central Park and the FDR Memorial in Washington, D.C., but also downtown squares, local parks, and even backyards. The simultaneous events are part of a larger campaign to help bring awareness to works of landscape architecture and the designers who create them.
