The Crosby Arboretum Foundation will host authors Susan Haltom and Jane Roy Brown beginning at noon on March 31 to discuss the restoration of the Eudora Welty garden.
Haltom and Brown co-authored One Writers Garden: Eudora Weltys Home Place in which they discuss the restoration of the garden at Weltys home and the gardens historic importance to landscaping. They will speak as part of the Jean Chisholm Lindsey Lecture in Landscape Design.
The lecture and luncheon will be at the Mississippi Museum of Art at 380 South Lamar Street in Jackson. A reception will follow immediately afterward in the Welty House Garden at 1119 Pinehurst Street. Refreshments will be served.
Haltom is a garden designer and restored and currently manages the Welty garden. Brown is a landscape historian and helped with the restoration.
The lecture series is dedicated to the memory of Jean Chisholm Lindsey, who served as president and managing trustee of the Chisholm Foundation. The foundation was established in 1960 by Lindseys father, and it has provided financial support to programs at the Crosby Arboretum near Picayune.
To register, contact the Crosby Arboretum at (601) 799-2311 or visit their website at http://www.crosbyarboretum.msstate.edu. Tickets are $60 per person and the deadline to register is Friday [March 23].
The Crosby Arboretum is a unit of the Mississippi State University Extension Service. Proceeds from the event will benefit the arboretum.
