More than $2,000 dollars in prize and purchase awards will be given to university students today [March 22] during the annual reception for the MSU Student Fine Art and Graphic Design Competitive Exhibition. The public reception is from 5:30-7:30 in McComas Gallery.
From more than 800 works submitted, 108 were selected. The public exhibition, which closes Friday [March 23] at 4 p.m., consists of sculpture, painting, drawing, printmaking, ceramics, mixed media, graphic design, typography, and package designs.
The exhibition works were selected by jurors Dr. Lisa Freiman and Brigid McCarren. Freiman, senior contemporary art curator at the Indianapolis Museum of Fine Art, has served as U.S. Commissioner to the 2011 Venice Biennale, a significant international contemporary art exhibition. McCarren is the art director for HOW Magazine, a major journal and resource for the graphic design field.
Refreshments will be served at tonight's reception.
