STARKVILLE, Miss.--Now in its 23rd performing year, a four-member Canadian group considered among that country's premiere chamber ensembles will be featured Thursday [March 1] at Mississippi State.
The St. Lawrence Quartet's 7:30 p.m. concert in Lee Hall's Bettersworth Auditorium is concluding the university's Lyceum Series for the 2011-12 school year.
General admission is $15 for all not holding season tickets. Advance purchases may be made at www.lyceum.msstate.edu.
Founded in 1989, the three-man, one-woman musical team includes Geoff Nuttall and Scott St. John on violins; Lesley Robertson, viola; and Christopher Costnaza, cello.
Just three years after beginning, they won first prize in the Banff International String Quartet Competition and the Young Concert Artists International Auditions.
Over the decades, their recordings have been honored with the coveted German Record Critics Award, Canada's Juno Award and two Grammy nominations. (For more, visit http://slsq.com/.)
