STARKVILLE, Miss.--Students and faculty from Mississippi's four public research universities will be on hand in the Capitol rotunda from 7:30 a.m. to noon Thursday [Feb. 2] to meet with legislators, lobbyists, media representatives and others interested in learning more about the Mississippi Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research's efforts to boost science, technology, engineering and math opportunities in the state.
The students' research projects will also be on display.
Usually referred to by the acronym EPSCoR, the Mississippi State-based initiative identifies, develops and deploys academic science and technology to increase the state's research and development competitiveness and foster economic growth.
EPSCoR programs are funded by a five-year, $20 million National Science Foundation grant that utilizes the resources of MSU, as well as the universities of Mississippi and Southern Mississippi and Jackson State University.
