STARKVILLE, Miss.--Talented dancers representing varying styles and ages will showcase a range of world cultures Tuesday [Feb. 28] during an international program at Mississippi State.
Titled "Dance Around the World," the free program begins at 7 p.m. in Lee Hall's Bettersworth Auditorium.
For the fourth year, the university event will provide the campus and local communities with the opportunity to experience the "many wonderful dance cultures represented at the university," said Jackie Mullen, associate director of student activities.
"This is a great event for our students, faculty, staff, and community to learn about other cultures without having to get on a plane and travel to other countries," Mullen said. "It also gives our students from other countries a chance to show their friends, professors and staff members where they are from and give a taste of their culture."
Members of Mississippi State's Ballroom Dance Club, Filipino, Nepalese and Indian student associations, as well as a dozen other groups, are scheduled to perform.
The program is sponsored by the university's recreational sports department, Holmes Cultural Diversity Center and Campus Activities Board.
