STARKVILLE, Miss.--March 1 is the registration deadline for a Jackson conference the following month focusing on state issues related to water, sustainability and climate.
Organized by the Water Resources Research Institute, the April 3 and 4 gathering at the Jackson Hilton will feature the latest research findings from state and federal agencies, as well as higher education institutions.
Based at Mississippi State University, the research institute works to provide statewide expertise in water and associated land-use, as well as serving as a repository of knowledge for use in education, research, planning, and community service. (For more, visit www.wrri.msstate.edu.)
Among featured conference speakers will be Trudy Fisher, executive director of the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality; Eric J. Evenson, U.S. Geological Services' national water census coordinator; Gregory A. Bohach, MSU vice president for agriculture, forestry and veterinary medicine; and wildlife and nature photographer Stephen Kirkpatrick.
Also scheduled will be a panel discussion among Coen Perrott of MDEQ's basin management branch; William McAnally of the Northern Gulf Institute; Trey Cooke of Delta Farmers Advocating Resource Management; and Larry Jarrett of DeSoto County Greenways.
Additionally, there will be sessions to showcase student work, and exhibitors representing both private and public organizations will be in attendance.
