STARKVILLE, Miss. -- The Starkville/Mississippi State University Symphony Chorus will present its fall concert Monday [Nov. 7] at 7:30 p.m. in the sanctuary of Starkville's Trinity Presbyterian Church.

Free and open to the public, the concert is titled "A Musical Tribute to E.O. Hawkins." Choruses from works by Handel, Mendelssohn, Bach, and Gounod will be performed, along with various church music pieces.

An active member of the Symphony Chorus, the retired MSU faculty member was known for his bass baritone solo work and participation in musical theater.

A recording of Hawkins performing will highlight the concert.

Hawkins, who died in January, was a MSU English department faculty member for 27 years. In addition to service as an English professor and head of the department, he was assistant dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. (For more, visit www.starkvilledailynews.com/node/4064/.)
