STARKVILLE, Miss.--Local students in the Starkville community will have access this fall to qualified piano instructors leading non-credit piano lessons at Mississippi State.

Piano faculty members in the university's music department are overseeing the MSU music major-led individual lessons. A limited number of slots remain available.

Lessons will take place in Music Building A, located on Morrill Road across from the T.K. Martin Center parking lot.

In addition to providing a community service, the new program allows MSU piano faculty members to train student teachers, said Rosangela Sebba, a veteran member of the department faculty.

"This program allows us to train our students, as well as encourage future pianists," Sebba said.

She said the curriculum follows requirements of the Mississippi Music Teachers Association, state division of the Music Teachers National Association.

Participants in the 12-week program may choose between either a one-hour lesson or two half-hour lessons weekly.

Lessons begin the first full week of September (Sept. 5 onward) and the $20-per-week tuition must be paid in full at registration prior to the first lesson.
