MSU will celebrate Arbor Day on Friday, Feb. 18. The university will do the planting this month instead of the nationally-observed month of April because planting conditions for trees are better. Events scheduled for Feb. 18 include:
9 a.m.-Greg Bohach, vice president for agriculture, forestry and veterinary medicine, will give a brief speech to begin the celebration, and a dedication tree will be planted to kick off the event.
9:30 a.m.-Workshop led by Paul Meints, plant and soil sciences instructor, will provide examples on how to properly plant and care for trees and plants.
10 a.m.-Tree planting will take place at designated locations around campus.
Noon-Celebration will end with cake, cookies and hot chocolate in front of the Lloyd-Ricks-Watson Building.
Come out and join in beautifying the campus with trees. Contact Jessica Tucker at jlt396@msstate.edu for more information.
