Poverty Simulation to show what state's poor face
Volunteers and participants are needed for a "Poverty Simulation" Thursday [Nov. 11] hosted by the honors students of Dr. Rebecca Smith's Economic and Social Issues course.
Between 6 and 8 p.m. in the Bost Hall auditorium, come and experience some of what life is like for so many Mississippians living in poverty. From 6-7 p.m., participants will be given a set of circumstances and will move from station to station interacting with social service officers, employers, bankers, and family. Then from 7-8 p.m., everyone is invited to participate in a de-briefing and public discussion and enjoy light refreshments.
Volunteers are needed to help man the many stations and participants to experience the event. This is on a first-come, first-served basis.
If interested in volunteering, participating or attending, please RSVP to Megan Rupp at mer179@msstate.edu.
