MEDIA ADVISORY: Indian Ambassador visits Jackson

STARKVILLE, Miss.--Strategic partnerships between India and the United States will be the topic during a Dec. 3 visit by Meera Shankar, Indian Ambassador to the United States, when she addresses the Executive Lecture Forum of Jackson at 7 p.m. at the Jackson Country Club.

Shankar will spend two days in the capital city as a guest of the Janos Radvanyi Chair in International Security Studies at Mississippi State University. In addition to the Executive Lecture Forum, she will visit the Mississippi Development Authority, Lt. Gov. Phil Bryant, and members of the Indian community in Jackson.

The longtime diplomat has served as director in the Indian Prime Minister's Office and in the Ministry of Commerce and Ministry of External Affairs, as well as heading two divisions related to the South Asian Association of Regional Cooperation (SAARC) and to Nepal and Bhutan. Most recently, Shankar served as Ambassador of India to Germany.
