Residence hall "move-in" day is Aug. 11

STARKVILLE, Miss.--To assist Mississippi State University students moving into campus housing, faculty and staff will be on hand to lift and carry during the fifth annual MVNU2MSU Aug 11.

Parent and student check-in will get under way at Humphrey Coliseum at 8 a.m. There they will be directed to one of 14 residence halls, including the newly constructed South Hall.

Residents are asked to arrive at the coliseum for check-in based on the first letter of their last name at the following times:

--A-I, 8-9 a.m. or 12:30-1:30 p.m.;

--J-R, 9:30-10:30 a.m. or 2-3 p.m.;

--S-Z, 11 a.m.-12 p.m. or 3:30-4:30 p.m.

With some exceptions, MSU policy requires first-year male and female students to live on campus. Exemptions include those who:

--are 21 years of age and older by the first class day;

--are married;

--have custody of dependent children;

--are military veterans with two years of active service;

--live with parents or guardians in a permanent residence not more than 30 miles from campus; or

--have a compelling and documented personal circumstance.
