MSU offers sympathy on death of Mrs. Clyde Muse

The wife of the president of Hinds Community College was killed Friday afternoon [July 9] in a one-car wreck on U.S. 49 near Carnes. Vashti Muse died from injuries sustained in the crash, and Clyde Muse, who holds master's and doctoral degrees from Mississippi State, was hospitalized.

Mississippi State University President Mark Keenum said the Mississippi State family shares in the loss of Hinds first lady.

"The entire Mississippi State University family mourns the loss of Vashti Muse," he said. "She was such an outstanding lady, who was a tireless advocate and shining beacon of light for higher education in our state. We also wish a speedy recovery for Dr. Muse. Our sympathies and prayers go out to the entire Muse family during this difficult time."
