STARKVILLE, Miss.--Exhibits, speakers, music, and more are on the agenda next week [April 19-23] for Mississippi State's Eco Week and Earth Day celebration.
All of the campus events are free and open to all.
"We are looking forward to an outstanding lineup of great speakers and activities throughout the week," said Jeremiah Dumas, director of the university's Environmental Collaborative Office. "We also plan on making several exciting announcements about MSU sustainability efforts Thursday [the 22nd] during the Earth Day Fair."
The fair on Old Main Plaza between the Colvard Student Union and Marketplace at Perry Cafeteria will feature student organizations, as well as local non-profits and businesses, sharing information about their environmental programs, responsible natural resource stewardship and emerging "green" trends.
At noon Thursday, MSU President Mark Keenum will give a keynote address in front of the State Fountain Bakery.
Exploring the positive economic impact that sound sustainability practices provide will be a key theme of this year's observation, Dumas said.
"Recycling and energy efficiency are two ways that consumers and companies can save money and make a difference at the same time, and we plan on showcasing the university's leadership in those areas," he added.
