An inter-university arts festival and 5K run Saturday [April 10] kick off a week of free entertainment, speakers, food, and music as part of the annual Unity Week festivities at Mississippi State.
Sponsored by the university's Richard Holmes Cultural Diversity Center and Appalachian Leadership Honors Program, the "Laps for Lupus" run and walk-a-thon begin at
7:15 a.m. on the Drill Field. Registration fees of $30 for the run and $90 for walk-a-thon teams will benefit the Lupus Foundation of America. Entertainment, refreshments and T-shirts will be provided for participants during the event.
At 5 p.m. that day, the Indian Student Association-sponsored Maroon Vibes will welcome performers from six universities to participate in an evening of competitive song and dance in Lee Hall's Bettersworth Auditorium.
Unity Week is an annual collaborative effort among students, faculty, staff, and administrators to inform, educate and celebrate the diversity represented by the campus community.
