MEDIA ADVISORY: Brazilian consul coming to Jackson

Contact: Sammy McDavid

The top Southeast-based diplomat of South America's largest country and one of the world's largest economies speaks Thursday [April 15] at the Executive Lecture Forum in Jackson.

"U.S.-Brazil Economic Cooperation: Business Opportunities in Brazil" is the title of a luncheon presentation by Ambassador Adalnio Senna Ganem, consul general of Brazil to Atlanta. As with previous ELF events, the program takes place at the Fairview Inn (www.fairviewinn.com/?tracker=googlelocal).

Ganem's visit to the state is organized by the Janos Radvanyi Chair in International Security Studies at Mississippi State University. While in Jackson, the diplomat will meet with Gov. Haley Barbour and officials of the Mississippi Development Authority.

Brazil maintains one of the largest consulates in the Georgia city. In addition to that state, the mission serves Alabama, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee.

Ganem, a New York University graduate, assumed his current duties in 2006. For additional biographical information, visit www.msstate.edu/chair/radvanyi/upcoming.html.

While ELF programs are not public events, interested members of the news media always are welcome. Reporters and others planning to cover the luncheon are asked to contact Tan Tsai, in advance, at 662-325-4062 or 325-8406.
