STARKVILLE, Miss.--Fans of the Big Band era are invited to break out the ball gowns and coats and ties for an evening of dancing and entertainment Feb. 13 at Mississippi State University.

The Starkville-MSU Symphony Association is presenting "An Affair to Remember," to begin at 7 p.m. in the Foster Ballroom of the Colvard Student Union.

The annual gala serves as the symphony association's primary fundraiser, with all proceeds used to continue its numerous free performances throughout the year. Tickets are $50 each and may be purchased in advance at the downtown Bookmart, from symphony board members or by telephoning 662-324-2589.

Lyle Tate will serve as emcee for a program that borrows its theme from the captain's dinner aboard a luxury cruise ship.

Entertainment will be provided by "Dolce Veloce," a flute, oboe and piano trio, as well as the MSU Jazz Band under the direction of Clifton Taylor. Members of Starkville's Dancing Feet Studio also will perform.

MSU Catering will provide heavy hors d'oeuvres, a carving station, fresh fruit, cheeses, and desserts.

"This event is designed for everyone who loves music, dancing, and wants to support the excellent and talented residents of the Golden Triangle area," said event chairperson Ada McGrevey.

"The Starkville-MSU Symphony Association is able to provide each of our symphony concerts and symphony chorus concerts free of charge to the public and it is indeed a wonderful asset to our community."
