2:58pm: Severe weather is moving out of the Oktibbeha County area. While no additional warnings are anticipated, please continue to use caution and to monitor news outlets for weather changes. Shelter in place advisory has been lifted.

2:50pm Update: Starkville and MSU continue to be under a tornado warning until 3 p.m. Continue to monitor news outlets for the latest weather updates. The storm approaching campus may have winds in the 30 to 35 mph range. At this time, there is a tornado watch until 7 p.m. for eastern Mississippi. Shelter in place advisory no longer in place, but continue to use caution.

2:20pm: SEVERE WEATHER UPDATE: At approximately 2 p.m. a tornado had been spotted west of Starkville and Highway 82. Dangerous conditions continue to develop. Seek shelter, stay away from windows, and monitor local news outlets for changing conditions.

2:16pm: Starkville and MSU are currently under a tornado warning, and severe weather continues to develop. Monitor local news outlets, and take all precautions for safety. SHELTER IN PLACE.

2:04pm Update: Starkville is now included in the warning. Please use caution and shelter in place.

At approximately 1:15 p.m. today [Oct. 30], the National Weather Serivce issued a tornado warning for southwest Oktibbeha County. This will affect the Sturgis/Craig Springs area within the next hour. Currently the possible tornado is in the extreme southwestern Winston-southeastern Attala County area.

Stay alert to changing conditions and monitor local news outlets and the MSU Web site.
