STARKVILLE, Miss.--Aug. 17 is the first class day of Mississippi State's 2009 fall semester.
July 31 is last day for freshmen and transfer students to apply for university admission.

Aug. 13 and 14 are the last days to complete regular registration and pay tuition and fees. The 14th also is new student orientation day for all who didn't attend the June sessions.
Other major dates for MSU's first semester include:
--Sept. 7, Labor Day holiday. (University offices closed.)
--Oct. 5 and 6, fall break. (No classes, but campus administrative offices open.)
--Oct. 10, Homecoming for MSU alumni and friends, held in conjunction with the campus football game with the University of Houston.
--Nov. 25-27, Thanksgiving holidays. (No classes for students on the 25th, but administrative offices open. Campus offices closed on the 26th and 27th.)
--Dec. 1, fall semester classes conclude.
--Dec. 3-9, final examinations.
--Dec. 11, the 7 p.m. Friday commencement program in Humphrey Coliseum will include all colleges.
--Dec. 22-Jan. 1, winter holidays. (Campus offices closed.)
--Jan. 6, spring semester classes begin.
