Regional biomass conference taking place this month in Jackson

STARKVILLE, Miss.--Applications are being accepted through Thursday [May 7] for the eighth annual Southern BioProducts and Renewable Energy Conference taking place later this month in Jackson.

Advocates for biomass utilization and renewable energy development from across the state and region will gather May 20 and 21 at the Hilton Hotel and Conference Center. The theme: "Stimulating Mississippi's Economy through Renewable Energy."

The event is organized by the Industrial Outreach Service at Mississippi State University, in cooperation with Mississippi Biomass and Renewable Energy Council.

The program will focus on pathways Mississippi and other states in the region can take to advance a new energy source that supporters tout as "cleaner, vibrant and more secure." Participants also will be developing long-range plans to expand home-grown biomass resources and renewable energy technologies. (For more conference information, visit www.ms-biomass.org.)

Registration fees include $175 for MBC members, $195 for non-members and $30 for students. Lodging is not included in the charge.
