STARKVILLE, Miss.--Representatives of Mississippi State and the 11 other Southeastern Conference universities travel north this weekend to hold their first joint student-recruiting fairs in two major cities.
The events are scheduled Monday [April 27] in Columbus, Ohio, and Tuesday [the 28th] in Chicago. High school students there are being invited to learn more about the institutions' academic offerings and campus life.
"Mississippi State is excited to be a part of this effort," said Phil Bonfanti. "By holding these joint programs, the SEC is giving area students and school counselors a one-stop shop to learn about the opportunities at a variety of great schools."
Bonfanti, MSU's director of admissions, said the Columbus event will be held 6-8:30 p.m. at the Hilton Hotel at the Easton Town Center. In the Windy City, sessions take place during the same time period at the Sheraton Chicago Northwest.
In addition to Mississippi State, the 77-year-old athletic conference includes the universities of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, South Carolina, and Tennessee, along with Auburn, Louisiana State and Vanderbilt universities.
