Six Mississippi State faculty and staff are being honored for high achievements at the conclusion of the university's 2008-09 academic year. Giles Distinguished Professor is MSU's highest academic rank.
Named for former faculty member and much-honored student adviser Irvin Atly Jefcoat, the award's faculty and staff winners now are the institution's nominees for national academic advising honors.
The master teacher award is named for MSU alumnus and leading U.S. fiction writer John Grisham.
The undergraduate teaching award is presented by the MSU Alumni Association.
