The T.K. Martin Center for Technology and Disability at Mississippi State University holds an open house tomorrow [Friday, April 17] to showcase various public services it provides.
Established in the 1990s, the center works to ensure that persons with disabilities of all ages may continually benefit from technological solutions and advances in the field of assistive technology.
The 1-4 p.m. come-and-go event involves facility tours and two demonstrations highlighting different aspects of the center's mission. At 1:30 p.m., "Project Safe-T" will demonstrate proper ways to secure wheelchairs for vehicular travel. A 2:30 p.m. presentation of "Express Yourself" will feature an artistic demonstration applying technologies and techniques used in painting.
Center officials also will be encouraging individuals to donate assistive technology devices for recycling and reuse.
