Future of U.S., EU economies focus of MSU program next week

STARKVILLE, Miss.--A European political and socio-economic adviser will be the featured guest when the Morris W.H. (Bill) Collins Speaker Series continues Thursday [March 26] at Mississippi State.

Ronald Roosdorp, private secretary to the vice prime minister and minister of economic affairs of The Netherlands, will examine economies of the United States and European Union and explore the futures of each. His 2 p.m. public program takes place in the John Grisham Room of the university's Mitchell Memorial Library.

Roosdorp, who holds degrees in international economics and international management, has served on the European Union's Economic Policy and Employment committees.

In his current role as private secretary to the government officers, he provides guidance on a wide variety of issues including energy, telecommunications and competition policies.

Roosdorp's visit to campus is sponsored by the John C. Stennis Center for Public Service, Stennis Institute of Government, and Mitchell Memorial Library and its Congressional and Political Research Center.
