Be alert to changing weather conditions

Much of Mississippi remains under a severe weather advisory, and the National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch until 11 p.m. Tuesday night [Dec. 9] for Oktibbeha County. The Crisis Action Team continues to monitor conditions. A watch means that conditions are favorable for tornadoes to develop.

Students, faculty and staff who are on campus or traveling should stay alert to changing conditions, monitor weather on local media outlets, and make personal safety a priority.

In the event that conditions worsen, consider seeking shelter on the bottom floor of a building away from windows. If possible, avoid unnecessary travel, being especially cautious about low-lying roadways.
