Popular landscape design symposium scheduled Oct. 15 at MSU

STARKVILLE, Miss.--The nation's longest running landscape design symposium continues for the 53rd year at Mississippi State.

Sponsored by the university's landscape architecture department and Garden Clubs of Mississippi Inc., the 2008 Edward C. Martin Landscape Design Symposium takes place Oct. 15 with its namesake in attendance. The 9 a.m.-noon program will be held in the Bost Extension Center auditorium.

For the $25 entry fee, participants will hear presentations on residential landscape design and sustainable gardening by Martin, symposium founder and a professor emeritus in the department, and current associate professor Bob Brzuszek.

Their program topics include:

--Martin, "Plants in Garden Design" and "Garden Design Accessories"; and

--Brzuszek, "Ecology, Place and Delight."
