Faculty and staff members from two- and four-year institutions of higher learning will be at Mississippi State next week for the 2008 Mississippi Advisers' Meeting.
Last year, more than 100 university and community and junior college professionals who daily assist students in achieving academic success and personal development took part in the organization's annual gathering.
The Tuesday [Oct. 7] event begins with 8:30 a.m. registration in the atrium of McCool Hall, home of the College of Business. Activities conclude at 3:30 p.m.
Heather Johnson, scholarship programs director for the Phi Theta Kappa international honor society for two-year colleges, will be featured speaker. Prior to joining the Jackson-based PTK staff, she served as assistant registrar and assistant director of admissions at Concordia College in Portland, Ore.
Johnson, a Concordia alumna, currently is responsible for administration of the society's three internal scholarship programs, as well as its initiatives with senior institutions.
