STARKVILLE, Miss.--One of the nation's newest chamber music societies will be the opening act Oct. 28 of Mississippi State's annual Lyceum Series.
The concert by New York-based America's Dream Chamber Artists begins at 7:30 p.m. in Lee Hall auditorium.
Available at the door, general admission tickets are $15 for adults; $10 for senior citizens (65 and over by request); and $8 for children 3-12. MSU students are admitted free with MSU identification cards.
Founded in 2003 by cellist Arash Amini and flutist Eveline Kuhn, ADCA's repertoire ranges from Baroque to contemporary selections.
The group's expressed goal is the performance of masterworks currently being neglected amidst a growing desire by many artists to focus primarily on new music. Its fresh approach also seeks to replace concert-hall formality with a more personal relationship with the audience.
The 54-member ensemble includes graduates of the country's top musical institutions, among them Juilliard, New England Conservatory and Eastman School of Music. The group also includes numerous past winners of the Avery Fisher Career Grant and international solo and chamber music competitions.
ACDA has been featured at the world's prominent music festivals, including Marlboro, Ravinia, Tanglewood, Aspen, and Caramoor, among others.
