Mississippi State no longer will allow pets on campus for game day.
"We have seen a dramatic increase in the number of people tailgating, including an increase in the number of animals," said Jim Jones, chair of MSU's Game Day Committee. "Most pets are fine in small crowds, but among thousands of football fans, the safety of animals and humans becomes a concern."
Beginning with the Oct. 11 home football game against Vanderbilt, animals--even on leashes--will not be permitted, he said. "It is better for your animal to stay at home in a familiar environment, and it is much safer for all enjoying the game day experience," he said.
