Media wishing to cover the Sept. 24 visit and lecture by Gen. Colin Powell at Mississippi State will need to be aware of guidelines for interaction with the former Secretary of State. All other Sept. 23-24 Leadership Summit sessions in Hunter Henry Center are open to the media. See http://www.aoce.msstate.edu/summit/.
Powell will deliver an 8 p.m. keynote address in Humphrey Coliseum, capping the two-day summit sponsored by the College of Business and the Division of Academic Outreach and Continuing Education.
Media wishing to cover Powell's campus visit should register by Sept. 10 with Maridith Geuder of University Relations by telephoning 662-325-3442; or, by e-mail at geuderm@ur.msstate.edu. Only registered media will be granted access to events involving Gen. Powell.
Media availability times and requirements Sept. 24 for Gen. Powell are:
--Media availability for print and broadcast media--5:45-5:50 p.m., Room 231 of Colvard Union. Media credentials will be verified outside of the room before entrance. Gen. Powell will be unavailable for one-on-one interviews.
--Media will be seated in a specially marked section of Humphrey Coliseum beginning at 7 p.m. prior to the 8 p.m. address. Media must check in and verify credentials in the student entrance lobby on the west side of the coliseum. Media may enter from the parking lot closest to the Palmeiro Center through entrances marked "student gate."
--For the 8 p.m. event, media coverage will be limited to print press. No recording devices are permitted, and Gen. Powell will be unavailable for pre- or post-event media activities. Photographs (without flash) will be permitted only during the first three minutes of the presentation at the podium.
--For all attending the event, no cell phone cameras, personal cameras, or personal videorecorders will be allowed.
