STARKVILLE, Miss.--Mississippi State's undergraduate landscape architecture program is once again among the top 15 in the nation as ranked by a national publication in its annual survey of architecture and design schools.

A bi-monthly publication that promotes quality design education, DesignIntelligence ranked MSU 14th nationally among 54 schools in its ninth edition of "America's Best Architecture and Design Schools."

"Attaining this national ranking is indicative of the commitment and dedication of our department's faculty and staff to excellence," said department head Sadik Artunc.

He added: "It is a very important recognition, and while we are happy, we are not satisfied. Our goal is to continue to improve and get into the top 10."

In addition to the top 15 ranking, the undergraduate program also was ranked fourth among schools in the South and fifth overall in the area of construction methods.

The recently established graduate program in the department is not yet eligible for ranking while it works toward official accreditation.

The new ranking marks the second time the MSU program cracked the DesignIntelligence top 15. The program was not ranked in 2006 or 2007, but ranked at number 15 in 2005.

DesignIntelligence is published by Atlanta-based Greenway Communications for the Design Futures Council and is aimed at leaders seeking to improve the built environment and the design professions.
