Community planning conference next week at MSU

STARKVILLE, Miss.--A Mississippi State--organized program next week for public officials, community designers and planners will emphasize visionary planning concepts to eliminate or minimize effects of potential natural disasters, while maintaining and enhancing quality of life.

Sponsored by the university's landscape architecture department, Monday and Tuesday's [Aug. 11 and 12] Leadership Through Sustainable Community Development Conference is designed to provide a hands-on approach for easily implementing community development strategies that balance natural, cultural, economic, and aesthetic requirements.

Sessions will take place at the Bost Extension Center. In addition to design theories, concepts and principles, the program will explain the role and work of MSU's Community Action Team office.
