MSU picks MDOT administrator for finance post

STARKVILLE, Miss.--Kevin Edelblute is the new controller and treasurer at Mississippi State University.

He succeeds Wayne Bland, who now is the land-grant institution's associate vice president for finance and administration. Appointment of the former Flowood resident recently was approved by the Board of Trustees, State Institutions of Higher Learning.

Since 2005, Edelblute has served as outreach services manager for information systems at the Mississippi Department of Transportation. He previously worked at MSU from 2003-05 as special assistant to the chief financial officer.

In 2006, he completed a master's degree in business administration, with an emphasis in project management, from MSU's College of Business and Industry. He also holds bachelor's degrees in management information systems and accounting from Ohio State University.

In his new duties, Edelblute will manage the university's day-to-day financial activities. These include planning, directing and administering activities in budget, payroll, sponsored-programs accounting, receivables and collections, financial records, and treasury services.

Before his first stint on campus, Edelblute was a financial adviser for UBS PaineWebber Inc. and a manager for BearingPoint Consulting Inc.
