Got weekend plans? What about an MSU cricket tournament?

STARKVILLE, Miss.--More than 100 players from eight universities compete this weekend at Mississippi State in one of the Southeast's largest collegiate cricket tournaments.

The MSU Cricket Club is sponsoring the Bulldog Championship Trophy '08 at the intramural sports complex just east of the Wise Center along Blackjack Road.

Activities begin with a 5 p.m. Friday [July 11] welcoming ceremony in the Eastman Auditorium of the Swalm Chemical Engineering Building.

Play gets under way at 9 a.m. Saturday [the 12th] and concludes with the championship match Sunday [the 13th]. Admission is free.

In addition to MSU, participating institutions include Auburn, Jackson State, Tennessee Tech, and Vanderbilt universities, along with the universities of Alabama-Huntsville, Mississippi and Tennessee-Knoxville.

Additional sponsors include the Regal Inn of Starkville, along with MSU's Division of Student Affairs, Bagley College of Engineering, Richard Holmes Cultural Diversity Center, Student Association, and offices of the provost, research and economic development, admissions and scholarships, and recreational sports.
