Mississippi State University police officers continue their investigation of a one-vehicle accident early Saturday morning, April 26 on the east side of campus.
The incident, reported shortly before 12:30 a.m., resulted in one fatality. The victim was a 19-year-old female. She was not an MSU student. She was among four passengers in the two-door vehicle that struck a light pole on Coliseum Blvd near Griffis Residence Hall.
Twenty-year-old Joshua D. Buckner, of Starkville, has been charged in the incident and is currently being held in the Oktibbeha County Jail. He faces further possible charges.
Buckner and the other surviving passengers are not MSU students, investigators said. They apparently were driving north through campus on Coliseum Blvd.
All of the passengers were taken to Oktibbeha County Hospital.
