STARKVILLE, Miss.--Mississippi State police continue to investigate an early February vandalism of university entrance signs at the west-campus intersection of Creelman Street and state Highway 12.

"Our detectives are actively pursuing leads that come in to the department and are following up on every possibility," said Chief Georgia Lindley.

The theft of seven raised metal letters from the two signs flanking Creelman was discovered Feb. 3. At the time, the MSU Facilities Management Office estimated repairs to total approximately $5,000.

Lindley said her department continues to encourage anyone with information about the theft to provide an anonymous tip to Golden Triangle Crimestoppers at [toll-free] 1-800-530-7151.

Mississippi State is supplementing the normal Crimestoppers award for information related to the incident, bringing the total reward to $2,000.

The entrance markers are among six erected last summer and fall to designate major approaches to campus.
