STARKVILLE, Miss.--Launched only a month ago, a Mississippi State online newsletter for students is adding audio and video components to make the publication more interactive.

Coordinator Robbie Ward, research writer in the university relations office, said Student Express, a three-times-weekly electronic publication, now includes "the sights and sounds of MSU."

"Our goal is to make our news lively, as well as current," he added.

The newsletter is available via the "Student Express" icon at the bottom of MSU's home page, www.msstate.edu.

Video for the Student Express begins with today's issue highlighting a retrospective look at past homecomings the Bulldogs prepare for Saturday's football game with the University of Alabama at Birmingham Blazers.

A standing feature in each issue is a student profile. "We believe the newsletter should reflect the diversity of backgrounds and interests among Mississippi State students," Ward explained.

Student Express also provides information about campus activities, honors, policies, and issues.

"One regular feature is a question-and-answer session with MSU President Robert H. "Doc" Foglesong," giving firsthand insights into subjects of interest to students, Ward said.

As with the addition of audio and video, Ward said the student-focused newsletter will continue to evolve to provide news of value to the campus community.
