A Friday [Oct. 26] program at Mississippi State's Mitchell Memorial Library will honor university President Robert H. "Doc" Foglesong on his selection for the Tau Beta Pi national engineering honor society's 2007 Distinguished Alumnus Award.

The 2:30 p.m. event in the library's John Grisham Room is jointly sponsored by the Bagley College of Engineering, Office of Research and Economic Development and University Libraries.

Awarded earlier this month, the honor is Tau Beta Pi's highest professional recognition of a member's career accomplishments. Foglesong's lifetime achievements include public service during a 33-year-career in the United States Air Force. [For more, see http://www.msstate.edu/web/media/detail.php?id=3992.]

Foglesong, who holds bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees in chemical engineering from West Virginia University, is a former president of the society's West Virginia Alpha Chapter.
