Disability Awareness Day set for Drill Field

Disability Awareness Day is scheduled Oct. 15, 11 a.m.-2 p.m., on the Drill Field. The event, which promotes the awareness of disabled students on campus, is sponsored by the Student Association, United Students and Day One. The organizers have planned a number of activities for this event, including a simulation activity for blindness and another that lets participants experience what it would be like to have an arm and fingers missing. Students also may participate in a contest to name the wheelchair man seen on parking signs. Whoever has the best name will receive a United Students T-shirt. Goody bags, pizza and soft drinks also will be provided. In addition, organizers will distribute information about how certain disabilities may be prevented.
